Our Hearing Services

Audiology & Hearing Aids in Newton, MA

We Don’t See Problems. We See Patients.

At West Newton Hearing Center, we believe in dealing holistically with your hearing issues. That starts with testing that exposes subtle, often minute differences in types of hearing loss. And continues every step of the way, as your hearing changes, as your lifestyle changes, and as technology improves.  Put another way, we don’t just treat the problem. We treat the patient.

Great Customer Service

Your relationship with our office will continue well beyond the initial visit and fitting. Your follow-up care includes ongoing office visits to make certain your hearing aids are providing the greatest benefit possible. That includes complementary follow-up service by Dr. Geoff Plant, who specializes in helping you to listen better after we’ve helped you to hear better.

Hearing Aids

In simple terms, a hearing aid is a small electronic device worn in or behind the ear.  But what it can do for someone with a hearing loss is simply amazing.

g

Hearing Tests

A hearing test provides an evaluation of the sensitivity of a person’s sense of hearing. Ten minutes in a sound booth gives us a clear picture of the state of your hearing.

w

Tinnitus

Tinnitus is an abnormal noise in the ear. Nearly 36 million Americans have tinnitus many of whom are severely handicapped by the tinnitus.

Other Services

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive listening devices (ALDs) refer to various types of amplification equipment designed to improve communication when individual hearing instruments are not enough.

Hearing Aid Repair

We recommend returning periodically for service to keep your hearing aids in peak working condition.  If needed, many repairs can be done on site.  If on site is not an option, we can provide a loaner hearing aid.

Aural Rehabilitation

We provide different types of therapies to patient’s who are hard of hearing, and implement different amplification devices to aid our patient’s hearing abilities.

Custom Hearing Protection & Earmolds

Sometimes one size fits all earmolds don’t fit.  A custom fit provides increased comfort and improved protection specific to the needs of musician’s, hunters and swimmers.

I am especially thankful to my doctors for the recommendation of West Newton Hearing Center. Considering the distance again for this service, I investigated some hearing centers in my area. All the hearing centers in my area sell hearing aids; WNHC treats the patient!

Dear Rhonda,
I want you to know how much I appreciate your superb care and attention to every need I’ve had since first coming to see you. Both your clinical expertise and your personal rapport and sensitivity have made me feel well cared for–and heard accurately (I’m aware of the pun!). Your staff mirrors your professionalism: alert, so competent, and attentive to details in a relaxed, friendly manner. You and they are a class act.

As a medical professional, I know how much effort good service demands, and as a patient I certainly appreciate it. I do not believe I have ever known a medical practice which offers such service, far beyond expectations, as is offered by the West Newton Hearing Center. Starting with the basics of unsurpassable clinical expertise, they offer courteous and friendly help whenever patients ask, without pressure to purchase a hearing instrument.
